Accountabilities/Responsibility
- Provide support services for Storage & Backup Systems.
- Experience with documenting processes and procedures
- Provide input and support for infrastructure and application development projects that require Backup infrastructure.
- Provide on-call assistance for data center operations.
- Maintenance of storage/VLTs/ Tape libraries and associated software at top levels of performance by monitoring version upgrades and maintenance releases to ensure that environment is optimally configured.
- Consults with other internal IT teams (database administrators, systems administrators, application engineers) on storage & backup solutions.
- Works within change management process to ensure that outages are scheduled to minimize impact on clients, but still maintain all hardware and software at optimal levels.
- Maintains relationships and coordinate with multiple vendors (IBM, Veritas, EMC)
- Tape/Disk based backup, restoration and audit responsibilities.
Technical Competency
- Experience as a Storage & Backup Administrator (3yrs).
- Manage the backup and restoration of systems using Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM).
- Install, maintain, update and administer TSM.
- Daily corporate backups using TSM software and monitoring of schedules for failed and missed backups.
- Fine-tune and troubleshoot TSM environment for optimal performance and resolve complex issues in a timely manner.Diagnose TSM platform issues (server and client side) and provide Support in complex, business-critical environment including physical and virtual infrastructure.
- Manage the backup and restoration of systems using Veritas NetBackup/ EMC Networker.
- Knowledge of storage administration and the concepts of file systems, disk partitions, mounts, quotas, mirroring and sizing.
- Expert with storage sizing, performance, and high availability.
- Evaluates and applies software/firmware upgrades and support packs as required to solve production problems and/or ensure compliance and system integrity.
Non-Technical Competency
- Should have very good verbal & written communication skills.
- Should be willing to work on extended and irregular hours when required.
- Strong self-starter, motivated to help TEAM in their deliverables.
- Ability to work on multiple simultaneous tasks in parallel and prioritize between them
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
