Linux System Administrator

The Role:

• Installing and configure new servers according to the company standards

• Installing, configuring, administrating and patching Apache, Tomcat and Jboss application servers and  MySQL databases.

• Experience with RHEL satellite server.

• Perform system upgrades

• Apply OS patches and security patches as an ongoing process

• Monitor system performance and performance tuning

• Create a backup and recovery policies

• User administration (password management)

• Server hardening and Setup security policies

• Regular file archival and purge/automation of log rotation

• Jboss/Tomcat/Apache application server administration

• Setting up alert

• Supporting to ongoing projects such as SOA, external customers.

• Supporting for auditing activates

• Taking ownership for all Linux based servers and support for DR and active-active data center configuration

The Profile:

• Should be a dynamic individual with the capability to handle complex server environments

• Experience with RHEL 4, 5, 6

• Experience with RHEL satellite server.

• Perform system upgrades and apply OS patches/security patches as an ongoing process

• Monitor system performance and performance tuning

• Create a backup and recovery policies and Support for auditing activates

• User administration

• Setting up security policies and server hardening

• Regular file archival purge/automation/log rotation

• Experience with alert monitoring system such as  Nagios, Itheon or any other open source monitoring system

• Implement and act as the single point of contact for assigned projects

• Experience with IBM AIX will be added advantage

• Basic understanding of Oracle database architecture

• Strong interpersonal, communication, and client-facing skills

• Linux certifications will be an added advantage.

• Minimum of 1-3 years’ experience as Linux system administrator
