TECHNICAL Speacialist – WINDOWS PLATFORM

The Technical Specialist – Windows Platform is primarily responsible for managing all aspects of configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the production servers and handling requests 
and problem escalations from Service Desk and other departments.  The engineer determines the severity of issues (triage), prioritizes issues, performs diagnosis of system and software components to identify root cause, and takes action or recommends corrective action for resolution.
The engineer will work with other networks, database, software & quality engineering teams and technical product managers and vendors to clearly state problems, troubleshoot, diagnose and/or resolve complex technical issues.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

  • Create, maintain, publish, and present a roadmap for the Windows platforms
  • Participate in long range planning and ensure those plans are consistent with business objectives for resiliency, disaster tolerance, and regulatory compliance
  • Set direction and develop strategies based on industry best practices and technology trends for the platform.
  • Participate in research, innovation, evaluations, and proof-of-concept activities.
  • Initiate projects to advance the initiatives identified in the roadmap.
  • Participate in problem management activities for problems with result in availability issues for the platform.
  • Evolve, monitor, maintain or even replace existing systems for continuous growth.
  • Take part in advanced end to end troubleshooting.
  • Be excited to learn more and solve problems in scaling large systems.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

  • 10+ years of experience with designing, building and administrating complex Windows platforms and operation of medium to large-scale enterprise and cloud infrastructures, databases, and application systems with high-availability requirements.
  • Automation experience using configuration management systems to both deploy and maintain services such as Puppet, Jenkins
  • Strong proficiency with mainstream Windows operating systems, such as  Windows 2003/2008/2012 (R2)
  • Experience in drafting Web Server architectures and implementation
  • 4+ Years of administration experience on IIS 6 & 7 with exposure to IIS 8
  • 2+ Years of administration experience on Apache / Tomcat / WAMP / GlassFish
  • 2+ Years of experience on working with multiple cloud providers such as Azure, vCloud & AWS
  • Extensive experience using PowerShell to automate repeatable work
  • Experience in scripting with Batch, VB, Perl & WMI
  • Sound experience on Windows Operating System hardening
  • Sound analytical and troubleshooting skills

Educational & Professional Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or any other equivalent qualification.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP)
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate - (MCSA) - Server Infrastructure
  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) - Server Infrastructure
  • ITIL – Foundation
  • AWS certification would be an added qualification
