Technical Specialist - Virtualization

The Virtualization Engineer is primarily responsible for managing all Virtual environments, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting the production /non Production servers. Secondarily, He will be responsible for general reporting responsibilities as assigned. The engineer determines the severity of issues, prioritizes issues, performs diagnosis of system and software components to identify root cause, and takes or recommends corrective action for resolution.

The engineer will work with other Systems team members, Operations team, database administrators, software engineers/QA, technical product managers and vendors to clearly state problems, troubleshoot, diagnose and/or resolve complex technical issues.

Accountabilities / Responsibilities

VMware vSphere administration in the areas of design, implementation, maintenance.
Capacity planning and metrics reporting for virtualization infrastructures.
Administering heterogeneous production environments on various hardware platforms.
Experience with high availability and disaster recovery solutions and tools including clustering, load balancing, etc.
Experience with vSphere problem determination and root cause analysis.
Support a 24 x 7 operations/ Participate in team on-call rotations.
Evaluates, recommends, and configure new technologies related to VMware products.
Working experience with vSphere Standard and Distributed Switches
Working experience with vSphere PowerCLI
Working experience with Cloud deployment and automation
Working experience with VMware Site Recovery Manager
Working experience with Templates and Customization Specifications..
Working experience with P2V and V2V migrations
Working experience with configuring and deploying vSphere on Cisco UCS.
Work experience with Brocade fabric switches.
Work experience with EMC and NetApp storages.
Ability to operate across multiple projects concurrently and assume the responsibility for the appropriate technical and architectural implementation of projects.
Self-motivated who takes initiative and works well in a team environment with the ability to meet deadlines on time.
Coordinates activities with vendors as required.
Responsible for accurately estimating and planning activities within the domain to provide the necessary input into the project managers for developing an end to end plan under the direction of the manager
Physical installation of equipment (racking, cabling), OS installation, network configuration of individual machines.

Educational & Professional Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or any other equivalent qualification.
VMware Certified Professional 5 – Data Center Virtualization (VCP5-DCV).
VMware Certified Professional 5 - Cloud (VCP5-Cloud)
VMware Certified Advanced Professional 5 - Data Center Administration (VCAP5-DCA)
ITIL – Foundation
AWS certification would be an added advantage
RHCE/MCP certifications would be an added advantage
