Systems Engineer
Exetel Communications (Pvt) Ltd is looking for a Linux/Unix Systems Engineer to support systems used by Exetel Australia Pty Ltd. These systems supports internal databases, Exetel CRM, customer email, help desk, VoIP and web hosting.
In this position you will work in Exetel Communication (Pvt) Ltd's offices in Colombo at the World Trade Center but your work assignments and management will be done by Exetel Australia's IT Services Manager.
You will work with a team of system administrators and developers based in Australia and Sri Lanka. Your primary duties will be systems administration and consultancy of other Exetel staff and some major customers. Such role requires an individual with an interest in both systems administration and system programming who is capable of working independently.
Academic Requirements
- You must have a degree in IT, majoring in programming from a reputed university.
- Good written and spoken English language skills
Previous Experience
- At least three years working in Linux/Unix system administration role
Essential Skills
- Linux/UNIX system administrator knowledge
- Sound knowledge in understanding of VoIP protocols (SIP/IAX2/SCCP/RTP) and Troubleshooting Skills
- Basic Networking knowledge
- Familiarity with Asterisk, Opensips, Hylafax & SQL
- Scripting and coding skills, particularly Bash/sh, Perl and object oriented Php
- Sound SQL knowledge and understanding of database structure and design
- Familiarity with network protocols like: SMTP, DNS and HTTP
- Ability to work and research independently and liaise with other departments
Desirable Skills
- Understanding and some experience in Linux virtualisation/clustering
- Experience with support some network applications: Email, DNS and Radius servers
- Database administration
Remuneration
