Senior Systems Engineer

 

Responsibilities

  • In depth knowledge in VMware hypervisor management experience.

  • Server hardware support and deployment experience.

  • Extensive experience working in a virtualization enterprise environment.

  • Heavy experience with automation and digitizing workflows.

  • Automate any and all operational works related to virtualized environments.

  • Build and maintain customization specifications along with associated automation, tooling and quality control.

  • Recommend and execute modifications to server environment in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance

  • Build detailed capacity plans for different virtualized environments in world wide.

  • Measure, monitor and optimize hardware utilization.

  • Performance analysis and tuning of virtualized environments.

  • Build high availability & reliable architecture designs of virtualized platforms as per business requirements

  • Document workflows, processes, procedures, configurations and use cases of infrastructure.

  • Configure, run and measure load profiles via test automation and scripting.

  • Manage and provide 3rd Line Support, process, and procedures for the company VMware infrastructure components in accordance with agreed service levels, standards and processes.

  • Identify and drive initiatives to proactively improve the quality and effectiveness of the infrastructure services to minimize business disruption.

 

Challenges

  • Willing to work in 24x5 shift roster

  • The position may require to be part of an on-call rotation

Technical Competency

  • 8 Years working experience related to Infrastructure/Virtualization operations

  • VMware ESX infrastructure platform experience in ESXi 4, ESXi 5.x

  • Demonstrated expertise in the design, implementation and support of VMware server infrastructures.

  • Good understanding of related storage technologies e.g. SAN, NAS and NFS storages.

  • Strong understanding of automation/scripting techniques.(vSphere power CLI, Power Shell)

  • Strong understanding VMware Templates and Customization Specifications

  • Understanding of data communication protocols focusing on TCP/IP.

  • Understanding of SAN/NAS technologies.

  • In depth experience with hardware and software based server monitoring tools.

  • Demonstrated competency in the use of project management tools and methodologies.

  • Working experience with Distributed Switches and Virtual Switches

  • Working experience with Data store configurations and storage networking

  • Experience with Host profile configurations

  • Strong understanding of Permissions/Roles and security groups

  • Sound knowledge in  VMotion, HA, DRS, VDS, Affinity rules and EVC configurations

  • Working Experience with P2V conversions.

  • In depth experience with ESX and vcenter host configurations and optimization

  • Experience with Update Manger and patch updates

  • Experience in designing cloud-based infrastructure

 

Non-Technical Competency

  • Should be able to work independently with minimum supervision from onsite locations.

  • Should be willing to work on extended and irregular hours when required.

  • Strong self-starter, motivated to help TEAM in their deliverables

  • Ability to present to internal audiences and excellent communication skill

  • Should be comfortable in working under pressure

  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks

  • Should have very good verbal & written communication skills.
