Job Purpose

This role is responsible for implementing best practices for support of the technology strategy and policy across the Global organization. Acting as an interface point for architecture, development and operations teams within the group and work with peer team members in both IT, Application Development and Support, IT Service Management, and our client business partners to provide a secure, compliant, reliable, scalable and efficient infrastructure. Engineers will directly engage with 3rd parties for any outsourced services managing the Data Centers, cloud computing services; server and storage capabilities as well as capacity.

Scope

Management of technical teams with regional, global and functional influence, drive and collaborate on global initiatives. Expectation of 24/7 365 day on call rotation.

Essential Skills, Qualifications and experience

• Proven solution leadership skills ­ track record in successfully leading technical teams and driving solutioning initiatives
• Mentoring, coaching and task management
• Experience of hiring, appraising and motivating staff and managing complex resource scheduling
• Drive accountability and end to end ownership in the team by providing an example to others
• Detailed understanding of performance, sustainability, durability, resilience and continuity
• Ability to clearly summarize and impart information, adjusting style to meet the needs of the audience
• Experience of leading in an Agile environment with a practitioner level understanding of Agile principles and proven track record in their application
• Advocate of Incident, change and release management
• Ability to manage vendors, PoC’s, lead RFPs, write business cases, define requirements, analyze outputs and benefits/constraints and make recommendations
• Proven thought leadership, stakeholder management, and global inter­group collaboration leadership
• Demonstrate a detailed understanding of the criticality of operations as an enabler for growth and the role of the leader in that environment
• Proven budget management (opex/capex) experience
• Previous experience of exec reporting and metrics implementation

Desirable Skills, Qualifications & experience

• Technical specialism in storage, virtualization or compute, along with a broad understanding of the entire technology stack
• Product lifecycle understanding from development to operations including devops continuous deployment/continuous delivery
• Experience with workload sizing, queue management and optimization of workflows
• Technical understanding of productizing infrastructure and related services for wide consumption
• Previous experience in a role with global reach managing infrastructure admin and delivery teams
• Creation and improvement of regional processes for change, incident and problem management within an overall global structure
• Previous experience of automating infrastructure components such as storage, provisioning, monitoring etc.
• Technical and management understanding of platform service delivery and operations in a virtualized, private/public cloud and traditional data center environment
• Proven track record managing multiple data centers across a variety of providers, locations and time zones
• Significant track record of leading teams in a high availability operations environment

Academic & Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or any other equivalent qualification.
• ITIL Foundation certification
• Storage & VMWare vendor certifications
