Operations Manager

Job description : Operations Coordinator for Sri Lanka, BASED IN GALLE.
Role: Developing, Delivering and Working closely with the Volunteer Programs Manager in Sri Lanka. This is an in-field position and not office based. 

Responsible for: Working with Program director to develop and deliver the volunteer programs of the right type, quality, focus and capacity to meet our needs, assisting the team with day to day operations on the base and assisting with the daily management of volunteers.

PROJECTS: turtle and teaching projects, medical projects

Responsibilities

1. Organising and getting involved in project work - this includes going to the project site with the volunteers and assisting them there .e.g.teaching projects, turtle projects or medical projects
2. Liasing with local partners in schools e.g. teachers or turtle farm teams- advising them on upcoming volunteers, their backgrounds, etc
3. Assist the new volunteer arrivals to help run the orientation and training on arrival 
4. Keeping records of how the projects are progressing and what is being done on the projects
5. Coming up with new ideas for things to do on the project and utilising the skills of volunteers. 
6. Ensure that volunteers are abiding by the Volunteer guidelines.
7. Support the volunteer house: checking chore duties are complete, hygiene standards are maintained
8. Deal with complaints, problems, and issues
9. Helping to assist in development of new projects
10. Act as an enthusiastic role model for volunteers and provide guidance and mentorship 
11. Assisting with organising cultural experiences for the volunteers- e.g. language sessions, buddhism classes and so on 
12. Daily /weekly meetings with management /Program Manager

Competencies required
Organisation skills

Bright and energetic and eager to learn
Very good communication and verbal communication skills 

Diligent and careful with everything- attention to detail must be there

We need someone flexible enough and how is willing to work on weekends sometimes and during evenings as well on some days depending on needs. 

Must be wiling to stay in the volunteer house or nearby

Experience preferred 
Previous experience in the volunteer sectors or in hospitality sectors or in any of our project areas is a plus- Eg teaching abilities, conservation project ideas or medical work experience will be valued.
