<img alt="" src="/logo/0000000233/9049_Sys Admin - Windows Header.JPG" style="height: 262px;width: 852px;"/> Senior Systems Engineer – Jira Administration Purpose <ul> <li>Manage and maintain internally developed/vendor supplied tools/software to be used in software engineering process in Pearson</li> <li>Administer, maintain, and operate the tools with service excellence</li> <li>Tool support escalation to aid junior members of the team with a focus on Jira as the subject matter expert (SME)</li> <li>Perform technical triage and troubleshooting across all technology layers</li> <li>Upgrade / patch any tool suites that may need to be patched to the latest release</li> <li>Drive tools towards continuous improvement</li> </ul> Accountability <ul> <li>Installation, configuration, development, debugging and support of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Stash)</li> <li>Configure and maintain the production JIRA Services</li> <li>Support and troubleshoot JIRA</li> <li>Work with JIRA to enable custom workflows, fields, dashboards, and reports</li> <li>Create and manage complex JIRA components including project workflows, screen schemes, permission scheme and notification schemes in JIRA</li> <li>Being proactive in analyzing application logs, debugging performance related issues, etc</li> <li>Help guide and maintain the organization of data in Confluence</li> <li>Setting up customized Jira Projects, Workflows, Post function</li> <li>Manage various dev tools, testing tools, and monitoring tools</li> <li>Ensure systems are stable and available and that user issues are addressed in a timely manner</li> <li>Discover opportunities to improve the workflow of daily tasks and lead efforts to drive improvements in team efficiency</li> </ul> Key Technical Competencies <ul> <li>Excellent working knowledge of Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence and Stash)</li> <li>Excellent understanding of JIRA and Confluence workflows, permission schemes, notification schemes, screens schemes, etc.</li> <li>Good working knowledge in Linux and Windows environment</li> <li>Good working knowledge of components of applications like Apache, Tomcat, MySql.</li> <li>Experience in automation scripts for application maintenance, monitoring using scripting languages (Perl, Python, Ruby, Shell)</li> <li>Experience in plugin development of Jira, Confluence, Stash</li> <li>Experience with version control systems (SVN, CVS, Git, Perforce)</li> </ul> Pearson Profile Competencies <ul> <li>A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization. </li> <li>Resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. </li> <li>Receives assignments in the form of objectives with goals and the process by which to meet goals. </li> <li>Recommends changes to policies and establishes procedures that affect immediate organization(s)</li> <li>Exposure to Agile methodologies</li> <li>Ability to work independently with minimal guidance in a fast-paced environment</li> <li>Strong work ethic with good time management and the ability to work with diverse teams</li> <li>Strong analytical and organizational skills, including the proven ability to adapt to a dynamic project environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously</li> </ul> Education, Qualifications and background <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in related field and/or a combination of sufficient relevant project experience and proven track record of delivery.</li> <li>Minimum 5+ years experience in Systems or Application Development required</li> </ul> Preferred Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience <ul> <li>5+ years of experience in IT in a large enterprise</li> <li>5+ years of experience in tools administration</li> <li>Experience with application life-cycle management software</li> <li>Experience with web architecture (e.g. Apache, Tomcat, HAProxy)</li> <li>Experience with build automation and dependency management tools (e.g. Jenkins, Hudson, Ant, Maven, Nexus, NPM)</li> <li>Knowledge of virtualization (e.g. vSphere, vCenter, vCloud)</li> <li>Knowledge of IT operations process frameworks (e.g. ITIL, DevOps)</li> <li>Knowledge of networking, NFS, and SAN technologies</li> <li>Knowledge of SQL DB (e.g. MySql, Postgre, Oracle)</li> <li>Knowledge of Orchestration Tools (e.g. Puppet, Chef, Rundeck, Nibiru, Electric Commander)</li> <li>Proficient in Microsoft Office suite products</li> </ul> Please apply using the following link - <a href="http://pearsonlankavacancies.peopleshr.com/" style="color: rgb(17, 85, 204);" target="_blank">http://pearsonlankavacancies.peopleshr.com/</a>
